Are you currently seeking a dentist offering various oral surgery options so you do not have to visit a separate oral surgeon’s office? If so, and if you are in the North Monterey region of San Jose, California, you should drop by and visit our team at Natalie K. Provenzano DDS, Inc. We offer oral surgeries, including tooth extraction (also wisdom teeth), dental implant placement, and bone grafting. All under one roof!
Tooth Extraction
A tooth extraction may be necessary when a tooth has to be removed from its dental socket due to infection, disease, or impaction (common with wisdom teeth). Our team of highly respected doctors includes our resident oral surgeon, Dr. Simel. Our primary goal is to save your tooth, but this may not always be possible. If a tooth is simply beyond repair or needs to be removed to eliminate the danger of infection, an extraction may be required. Our office also performs wisdom teeth extraction when necessary.
Why Extract A Tooth?
As stated above, we aim to save your teeth via preventive and restorative treatment. Oral health is the whole purpose of our office. However, this isn’t always possible. You may need a tooth extracted if:
- A tooth has become irreparably damaged due to extensive, untreated tooth decay.
- Advanced gum disease has led to loosened teeth and infection.
- A tooth has become impacted and requires extraction. This is typical of wisdom teeth trying to break through the gums.
- Your teeth are overcrowded, and space is needed to prevent future oral health issues.
- A tooth has sustained significant damage due to physical trauma and cannot be saved.
Dental Implants
Another form of oral surgery our team provides is dental implants. When you have lost a tooth, you will want to seek a replacement. One such option that is very popular is a dental implant. This is a surgical procedure and can be performed in our office. You need enough healthy jawbone to support a dental implant; otherwise, we can consider a bone graft. A dental implant will be surgically implanted into the jawbone, where it will fuse to the bone via osseointegration. Once healing is complete, an artificial tooth (usually a crown) will be affixed to the implant. This is the best tooth replacement option, replacing the tooth above and below the gum line.
