When it comes to choosing a tooth replacement that is not only going to mimic the look of a natural tooth but will also provide the strength and durability to match, you cannot go wrong with a dental implant. When visiting Natalie K. Provenzano DDS, Inc., you may find that it can be confusing when looking at the various available tooth replacement options. Our team’s goal is to answer any questions our Seven Trees, San Jose patients may have. We will be happy to review the multiple options available for tooth replacement and tell you why dental implants are the best option to replace missing teeth.
What Is A Dental Implant?
Dental implants are composed of three components. First, you have the titanium post, which is surgically inserted into the jawbone. An abutment is attached to this post, which acts as a bridge between the implanted post and the artificial tooth prosthetic, which will be connected to the abutment.
Dr. Provenzano is happy to introduce our in-office oral surgeon, Dr. Simel, to patients considering a dental implant for tooth replacement. Dr. Simel performs our implant procedures, implanting the post into the jawbone. Once your implant has been placed, healing will take several weeks. It is during this time that the jawbone will fuse to the implant via a process called osseointegration. After completion, an abutment is attached, and an artificial tooth, usually a crown, is added to finish the process.
What Kind Of Dental Implants Do We Offer?
We are happy to offer the following dental implant options to our patients:
- Mini dental implants: Smaller than a conventional dental implant, these are used to support a full denture. These full-mouth dental implants allow us to place an implant-supported denture during the same appointment as your implant surgery.
- Single Implant: This is the most common form of dental implant. Used to replace a single tooth, the implant is surgically inserted into the jawbone so that a dental crown can be crafted and placed onto the implant’s abutment.
- Multi-Tooth Implant: When you are missing multiple teeth in a row but do not have adjacent teeth available to support a dental bridge, a multiple-tooth implant could be a good option. One or more dental implants will be placed to anchor a dental bridge in place.
Learn More About Dental Implants
Dental implants are an excellent restoration option for tooth replacement. Unlike traditional dentures of a bridge, a dental implant replaced the tooth both above and below the gum line. This will help preserve the health of your jawbone and create a sturdy, long-lasting restoration. If you are in and around Seven Trees and wish to schedule an appointment with our team at Natalie K.
