The benefits of using dental bonding for smile restoration and repair
Having a dentist who understands the importance of oral health and the importance of a beautiful smile is key to ensuring patients feel confident with the appearance of their teeth and gums. Composite dental bonding is just one of many types of cosmetic treatments available at the practice of Natalie K. Provenzano, DDS, Inc.
What is dental bonding?
Dental bonding is an excellent alternative for patients who might have considered porcelain veneers. The material is used for a variety of situations, making it versatile for individuals with:
- Gapped teeth
- Broken/chipped teeth
- Permanently stained teeth
- Misaligned teeth
- Unusually shaped teeth
- Short teeth
- Worn teeth
How is dental bonding done?
Composite dental bonding is applied to prepared teeth and hardened with a curing light. It is then filed down and polished to look just like natural tooth enamel. The result is a more beautiful tooth with natural-looking repairs.
How long does dental bonding last?
When patients maintain their oral health, they will find their dental bonding to last many years. If it comes loose, it can be easily replaced in the dental office. Patients will need to understand, however, that these restorations can be stained, so enjoy foods known for staining, such as coffees and teas, with care.
How much does dental bonding cost?
If patients compare the cost of dental bonding with alternative solutions such as porcelain veneers and orthodontics, they will find composite resin to restore and repair a tooth is much more affordable using dental bonding materials.
